Memphis, May 28, 2008 – Memphis Grizzlies swingman Mike Miller and his family announced a $200,000 donation to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at the Memphis Grizzlies House today. This is the largest donation ever to St. Jude by an individual Grizzlies player.

In honor of the Millers’ contribution, the hospital has named its exercise room the Mason and Mavrick Miller Fitness Room, which is named after Mike and his wife Jennifer’s two boys.

“I love what St. Jude does for the community,” Miller said. “Jennifer and I have always been very supportive for what they do with children. I really wanted to do something to help out the community here in Memphis.”

The Memphis Grizzlies have been a partner of St. Jude since April 2002. The team has shown their support through various activities, such as having team members visit the hospital and read stories to patients, creating special St. Jude nights at Grizzlies home games and donating tickets to St. Jude patients and their families. In September 2002, the Grizzlies extended the partnership by pledging $5 million toward construction of the $10 million Memphis Grizzlies House.

The Grizzlies House is a short-term housing facility on the St. Jude campus for patients and families undergoing outpatient treatment from one to seven days. The Memphis Grizzlies committed $5 million to fund the Grizzlies House, which is approximately 70,000 square feet and can accommodate up to 100 families at a time.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, Tennessee, St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities around the world. No family ever pays for treatments not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. St. Jude is financially supported by ALSAC, its fundraising organization.
