Memphis, May 8, 2008 – For teams not in the playoffs, the NBA Draft Lottery on May 20 is one of the most important nights of the year, as teams have their draft fates determined. The Grizzlies are hoping the ping pong balls bounce their way and land them the top pick in the draft, and the team is inviting fans to two Draft Lottery parties to share in the excitement.
The Grizzlies will be hosting parties at Flying Saucer locations Downtown (map) and in Cordova (map) for fans to gather to watch the Lottery. ESPN 730 will be broadcasting live from the Downtown party, while WRBO Soul Classics 103.5 will be at the Cordova location.
Festivities at both parties will begin at 6 p.m., and will feature food and beverage specials fro Budweiser, appearances by members of the Grizzlies Dance Team and broadcast team, trivia, prizes, and giveaways. In addition, ESPN will be at the Downtown location to record the reaction from Grizzlies fans when the team’s draft position is revealed. Also, keep an eye out for the Grizzlies Draft Guide in local businesses in the days following the Lottery.
Representing the Grizzlies on stage at the Lottery in Secaucus, New Jersey, will be Rudy Gay.
Of course, the parties don’t end here. The Grizzlies will also be holding an NBA Draft Party on June 26. Details on that event will be announced closer to the date.
