MEMPHIS, June 27, 2008– The Grizzlies acquired the draft rights to forward Darrell (dur-RELL) Arthur (27th overall pick), a member of the 2008 National Champion Kansas Jayhawks, from the Houston Rockets Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced Thursday night.
In return, the Grizzlies traded the draft rights to forward Donté Greene (28th) and a 2009 second round pick to the Houston Rockets, who previously acquired the draft rights to Arthur and Joey Dorsey (33rd) from Portland in exchange for the draft rights to Nicolas Batum (25th).
Arthur, an early entry candidate, averaged 12.8 points and 6.3 rebounds (both second on the team) on 54.3 percent shooting (fourth in the conference) for the Jayhawks and was a First Team All-Big 12 selection as a sophomore.

The 6-9, 215-pound forward scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the NCAA Championship Game on April 7 against the University of Memphis. In two seasons with Kansas, Arthur averaged 11.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks on 54.1 percent shooting in 78 games (46 starts).
Arthur, a 20-year-old Dallas native, is the cousin of Los Angeles Clippers swingman Quinton Ross.
