On Friday, March 7, Grizzlies players Rudy Gay, Brian Cardinal and Mike Conley hosted the very successful Staxtacular 2008 event.
Hall of Famer Bill Russell spoke at the Jan. 30 mentoring luncheon urging Memphis business leaders that “There are no ‘other people’s children', there is only the next generation of Americans.” He then visited students at the Grizzlies Academy in Downtown Memphis.
The National Mentoring Partnership recently featured the Grizzlies Foundation's mentoring initiative.
On October 16, 2007, the Memphis Grizzlies Charitable Foundation announced a number of grants to local non-profit organizations totaling $345,000.
On Friday, August 24, 2007 the Memphis Grizzlies Charitable Foundation made a $15,000 gift to the Memphis Food Bank to support the Food for Kids Backpacks program at St. Patrick's Elementary School for a full year. View photos of the event at St. Patrick&rsquop;s Elementary.

MAM runs year-round youth sport programs that emphasize teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play. The purpose of MAM is to use organized athletics to mentor youth in order to reduce destructive behavior, improve health, increase academic performance and grow spiritually. MAM has six locations throughout urban Memphis which offer a variety of programs to attract youth. While MAM is best-known for its huge recreational basketball leagues, they also utilize golf, flag football and soccer programs to attract youth.
